Maintenance Technician – Full‑time, Permanent

About the role

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Technician to join our Estates & Facilities team at Bournemouth and Poole College. You will help maintain a safe, efficient and high‑quality environment across multiple college sites.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake general maintenance duties across college sites, both independently and as part of a team.
• Carry out planned and reactive repairs to a range of building services.
• Complete multi‑skill tasks including carpentry, basic plumbing, and general building maintenance.
• Maintain and repair doors, windows, furniture, and non‑technical equipment.
• Support minor installation works within your technical competence.
• Assist with water systems maintenance and respond to leaks or blockages.
• Ensure building fabric is safe, compliant, and fit for purpose.
• Record maintenance activities and update relevant systems.
• Follow COSHH, health & safety, and safeguarding procedures at all times.
• Support a professional, compliant, and well‑maintained estate environment.

Required profile

• GCSE Maths and English (Grade 9–4 / A–C) or equivalent.
• A recognised trade qualification (e.g., City & Guilds).
• Experience in a hands‑on maintenance or facilities role.
• Strong practical knowledge of general building maintenance and repair.
• Multi‑skill capability (carpentry, plumbing, building maintenance).
• Good understanding of health & safety and compliance requirements.
• Ability to diagnose faults and problem‑solve effectively.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across teams.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Basic IT skills for record keeping and reporting.
