Maintenance Technician

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our manufacturing team at Lancing Business Park. The role is hands‑on and technically demanding, focusing on keeping a wide range of woodworking machinery running safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on CNC centres, edge banders, panel saws and ancillary equipment, recording work in the site CMMS.
• Respond quickly to breakdowns, diagnose root causes and implement lasting repairs to minimise production downtime.
• Perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic fault‑finding, including repairs to bearings, belts, gearboxes, vacuum systems and spindle assemblies.
• Calibrate machines after maintenance or component replacement and manage tooling inspection schedules.
• Inspect, test and repair electrical systems such as motors, drives, control panels, sensors and PLC‑controlled circuits, using schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety legislation (PUWER, LOLER, COSHH, LOTO) and contribute to risk assessments and method statements.
• Support production improvement projects, new machinery installations and site relocations, and provide guidance to operatives and sub‑contractors.

Required profile

• Recognised apprenticeship or equivalent trade qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 or above) in a Mechanical Engineering discipline.
• Proven experience maintaining CNC or automated production machinery, preferably HOMAG Group equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to follow and record PPM schedules and work safely in a manufacturing environment.
