Maintenance Technician (Multi-skilled with Electrical bias)

About the role

Our client, a leading specialist in their market sector, is seeking a multi‑skilled Maintenance Technician with an electrical focus for a permanent position in Sunderland. The role operates on a three‑shift system covering early, back and night shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Reduce breakdown rate and carry out improvement activities.
• Complete planned maintenance and provide shift cover.
• Perform regular preventive maintenance (PM) on all equipment according to schedule.
• Identify and correct potential issues during PM activities.
• Respond to breakdowns and execute repairs quickly, accurately and safely.
• Provide maintenance support to all departments and collaborate with Manufacturing Coordinators to improve production efficiency.
• Support new equipment introductions and assist manufacturing to meet QCD targets.
• Maintain up‑to‑date maintenance records, parts stores and input job data into COSWIN (CMMS).
• Uphold good housekeeping standards and comply with health, safety and environmental policies.
• Assist with the rollout of shop‑floor operator PLM systems.

Required profile

• Experience in a similar role within a fast‑moving automotive manufacturing environment.
• Self‑motivated, proactive thinker with strong communication, teamwork and organisational abilities.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office applications.
• Educated to HNC level or equivalent.
