Male Support Worker – Residential Care

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Male Support Worker to join our residential team at Turning Point in Queensbury. You will provide daily personal care and support to adults with learning disabilities, helping them lead fulfilling, independent lives in a 24‑hour service environment. Shift patterns vary across mornings and evenings, requiring flexibility and a willingness to work 24‑hour service rotations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist residents with personal care, including washing, dressing and toileting.
• Prepare and serve meals, encouraging involvement where desired.
• Support residents with drinking, feeding and medication application (creams, lotions).
• Handle manual lifting and transfers safely.
• Maintain accurate records, including finance and audit‑related documentation.
• Manage residents’ money safely and assist with budgeting.
• Keep the home clean, tidy and safe, and liaise with landlords for repairs.
• Plan and deliver varied, engaging daily activities.
• Support residents in managing anxiety and emotional wellbeing.

Required profile

• Good communication skills, including interpreting non‑verbal cues.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as manual handling.
• Valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle.
• Experience supporting individuals with anxiety or complex needs is beneficial.
