Management Accountant – Finance Team (US focus)

About the role

We are looking for a Management Accountant to join the Finance team in our Belfast office. The role will primarily support the US entity while also covering other offices across the A&O Shearman network. You will work closely with senior accountants to deliver accurate monthly financial information.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly management accounts for the US and other offices, including P&L and balance‑sheet reporting.
• Perform daily bank reconciliations and highlight unreconciled items.
• Post journals, review costs and ensure balances are fully supported.
• Execute monthly balance‑sheet reconciliations, investigate movements and clear aged items.
• Produce variance analysis against budget and forecast, explaining key drivers.
• Assist the management team during budgeting and forecasting cycles with data‑driven assumptions.
• Maintain strong financial controls and adhere to internal accounting policies.
• Support statutory and group audit processes by preparing audit‑ready schedules.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and data quality.
• Communicate financial information clearly to non‑finance stakeholders.

Required profile

• Member of, or working towards membership of, a recognised professional accounting body (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• 1‑2 years of experience in professional services or a comparable accounting environment.
