Management Accountant – Fixed Term (12 months)

About the role

We are seeking a Management Accountant to join a well‑established public sector organisation in Kidlington on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. The role will support accurate financial reporting, month‑end processes and compliance across the organisation while providing insight to senior finance colleagues.

Key responsibilities

• Produce monthly management accounts and support month‑end reporting activities.
• Prepare journals, including pre‑payments, accruals and other adjustments.
• Complete balance‑sheet reconciliations within agreed deadlines.
• Assist with year‑end accounts preparation and external audit requirements.
• Manage grant claims and financial returns, ensuring compliance with funding conditions.
• Support income generation and cost‑recovery initiatives, including specialist charging arrangements.
• Supervise and develop Accounts Technicians through coaching and objective setting.
• Oversee financial controls related to seized cash processes.
• Produce financial analysis and management reports to aid business decision‑making.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and promote best practice.

Required profile

• AAT qualification (or equivalent) with solid management accounting experience in a large finance function.
• Strong analytical ability and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and experience of line management.
• Proactive problem‑solver with the ability to manage competing priorities.
