Management Accountant

About the role

The Management Accountant will support the finance team in delivering accurate monthly management accounts and full accounts packs. You will work closely with senior accountants to ensure all financial information is prepared to a high standard and supports strategic decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and review of monthly management accounts and full accounts packs, including related workings and reconciliations.
• Prepare delegated sections of the annual financial statements.
• Provide information for external audit requests and regulatory returns.
• Process monthly accruals, pre‑payments, revenue and expense entries.
• Reconcile specific General Ledger accounts, including suspense accounts.
• Prepare workings and backup for routine journal entries.
• Deliver clear commentary on financial performance to aid decision‑making.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and resolve differences promptly.
• Maintain and reconcile balance‑sheet control accounts and the fixed asset register.
• Calculate and post depreciation, including hire‑purchase depreciation, and ensure correct accounting for leased assets.
• Analyse trial balances, investigate variances and support budget preparation and forecasting.

Required profile

• Proven experience preparing monthly management accounts and supporting annual financial statements.
• Ability to produce clear financial commentary for business stakeholders.
• Experience performing bank reconciliations and maintaining balance‑sheet control accounts.
