Management Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a Management Accountant to join a well‑established, growing business in Plymouth. Reporting to the finance department lead, you will support strategic decision‑making through accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and performance analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Produce daily, weekly and periodic sales and financial reports for business decision‑making.
• Prepare, review and post journals, accruals and pre‑payments.
• Support the preparation of monthly management accounts and reporting packs.
• Complete balance‑sheet reconciliations and maintain supporting schedules.
• Analyse financial data and performance trends to provide profitability insights.
• Reconcile internal sales, inter‑company and holding accounts, resolving discrepancies.
• Prepare tax‑related information and support statutory/compliance reporting.
• Submit national statistics returns and external surveys on time.
• Assist with annual budgets, forecasts and financial plans.
• Support year‑end audit processes and respond to auditor requests.
• Produce ad‑hoc financial reports and contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• AAT Level 4 qualified or part‑qualified/qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA (or higher).
• Experience in a Management Accountant or Reporting Accountant role, preferably in manufacturing, engineering, logistics or distribution.
• Strong MI analysis and problem‑solving abilities.
• Good understanding of accounting principles and balance‑sheet reconciliations.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel (advanced functions such as VLOOKUP, pivot tables, etc.).
