Management Accountant

About the role

WeDoData are recruiting on behalf of a well‑established education client in Surrey for a Management Accountant to join the finance team. The role offers the chance to work closely with senior leaders, provide high‑quality financial insight, support strategic planning and help shape the future of education.

Key responsibilities

• Produce monthly management accounts, variance analysis and financial reports.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and long‑term financial planning.
• Monitor budgets and staffing costs, identifying risks and opportunities.
• Assist with payroll reconciliations and establishment monitoring.
• Help with year‑end accounts, audit preparation and statutory returns.
• Collaborate with the MIS team to align financial planning with learner and funding data.
• Improve financial systems, reporting and internal controls.
• Line‑manage a Finance Assistant and Finance Officer.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification – ACCA, ACMA or CIMA (full or part).
• Experience producing management accounts and financial reports.
• Strong budgeting, forecasting and business‑partnering experience.
• Excellent analytical ability and experience presenting financial information to non‑finance colleagues.
• Previous management‑accounting experience in education, the public sector or a complex organisation is advantageous.
• Experience managing or mentoring finance staff is desirable.

• Advanced Excel.
