Management Accountant

About the role

This position sits within the Finance team of a well‑established law firm, offering a hands‑on, broad‑scope role that supports monthly reporting, tax compliance, budgeting and other financial operations. You will work closely with Finance and People & Culture colleagues, gaining strong exposure across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Produce monthly KPI reports and highlight trends that need attention.
• Prepare monthly financial and operational reports for Practice Area Leaders.
• Create detailed monthly support notes for business services expenditure.
• Complete monthly balance‑sheet reconciliations, including accruals, pre‑payments, fixed assets and control accounts.
• Prepare quarterly VAT returns and reconcile them against general‑ledger balances.
• Submit mandatory ONS data accurately and on time.
• Prepare bi‑annual payment practice disclosures.
• Liaise with People & Culture on payroll and benefits, posting monthly payroll journals.
• Support annual budgeting and re‑forecasting processes.
• Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts.
• Respond to ad‑hoc reporting and business‑analysis requests.

Required profile

• Experience in a management accounting or similar finance role, preferably within professional services.
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships.
• Proactive, analytical and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
