Management Accountant (Manufacturing)

About the role

This is a key finance position within a fast‑paced manufacturing business based in Poole. The Management Accountant will ensure accurate product costing, analyse manufacturing performance and provide commercial insight to support strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the end‑to‑end product costing process for all manufactured items.
• Maintain and review standard costs to reflect actual manufacturing operations.
• Prepare detailed cost variance analysis and investigate material, labour and overhead variances.
• Produce regular commercial and financial reports for senior management.
• Partner with production, operations, procurement and supply‑chain teams to identify cost‑saving opportunities.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities.
• Monitor inventory valuations and assist with stock reconciliations and physical counts.
• Assist with month‑end management accounts, including cost analysis and journal preparation.
• Review manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and cost control.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across finance and manufacturing functions.
• Ensure costing procedures remain accurate and compliant with company policies.
• Provide financial analysis for new product development and operational projects.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Cost Accountant, Management Accountant or similar finance role within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of product costing and financial reporting.
• Ability to analyse manufacturing performance and translate data into actionable insights.
• Experience preparing budgets, forecasts and month‑end accounts.
