Management Accountant – Temporary (Hybrid)

About the role

This temporary Management Accountant role supports the finance function of a not‑for‑profit organisation in Warrington. Working on a hybrid basis, you will deliver accurate, timely financial information to aid decision‑making across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts with variance analysis and commentary.
• Support budget holders by providing clear financial insights and challenge where needed.
• Ensure costs and income are accurately recorded and allocated.
• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
• Monitor performance against budgets, highlighting risks and opportunities.
• Collaborate with operational teams to deliver accurate financial projections.
• Provide financial analysis for operational and strategic decisions.
• Maintain and improve reporting processes for accuracy and efficiency.
• Produce ad‑hoc reports for senior management.
• Build strong relationships with non‑finance stakeholders and translate data into actionable insights.
• Offer guidance and training to budget holders as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a management accounting role.
• Experience in public sector or not‑for‑profit organisations (desirable).
• Strong background in budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
• Experience supporting audits and financial controls.
• Part‑qualified or fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or equivalent experience.

Required skills

• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent Excel and financial systems proficiency.
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non‑finance colleagues.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
