Managing Legal Counsel

About the role

This 12‑month fixed‑term position is for an experienced Financial Services Legal Counsel who will provide commercially focused advice across wealth management, retail investments and financial services regulation for a leading UK financial institution.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver commercial legal advice on wealth management, retail investment and financial services products and services.
• Interpret and ensure compliance with UK financial services regulations such as FCA rules, MiFID II, Consumer Duty, AIFMD, UCITS and PRIIPs.
• Support strategic initiatives, change programmes and integration projects.
• Partner with senior leaders, Risk, Compliance and Governance to manage legal and regulatory risk.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial and financial services documentation.
• Identify legal, regulatory and reputational risks and propose pragmatic solutions.
• Drive continuous improvement of legal processes and contribute to operational efficiencies.
• Build strong relationships across the business as a trusted legal adviser.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with significant post‑qualification experience.
• Strong in‑house or private‑practice background advising financial services clients.
• Expertise in at least one of: Wealth Management, Asset Management, Funds, Retail Investments, Financial Services Regulation.
• Deep knowledge of the UK regulatory landscape, including FCA, MiFID II, Consumer Duty, AIFMD, UCITS and PRIIPs.
• Proven ability to work with senior business stakeholders and cross‑functional teams.
