Managing Quantity Surveyor

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial delivery of a landmark infrastructure portfolio within our civil engineering division. You will have full accountability for multi‑million‑pound assets, driving profitability while ensuring compliance and robust cost control.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of Quantity Surveyors and Assistant QSs across major civil engineering work packages.
• Oversee contract administration for NEC4 (Options A, C & E) and bespoke regulated frameworks.
• Direct cost value reconciliations, cash‑flow forecasting and earned‑value management for complex projects.
• Identify and manage commercial risks, variations and early warnings to protect project margins.
• Act as the primary commercial interface with regulated clients, authorities and joint‑venture partners.
• Develop procurement strategies, negotiate high‑value subcontractors and manage vendor performance.

Required profile

• 8+ years of commercial management experience in civil engineering, infrastructure, rail, nuclear or utilities projects.
• Degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management; MRICS or MCICES highly desirable.
• Proven ability to work under strict regulatory, safety and compliance standards.
• Strong leadership and team‑development skills.
• Eligibility to obtain required security clearance.
