Managing Quantity Surveyor

About the role

We are seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead our Responsive Repairs division for social housing clients in the Thornaby/Middlesbrough area. You will combine strategic commercial oversight with hands‑on contract management to deliver value‑for‑money services.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse SOR codes and large data sets using advanced Excel to identify cost‑saving opportunities.
• Take full accountability for the commercial function of responsive repairs and void works.
• Manage contracts, subcontractors and dispute resolution processes.
• Lead, develop and mentor a high‑performing team of Quantity Surveyors and Trainee Surveyors.
• Collaborate with colleagues in Leeds and Manchester to ensure consistent commercial standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in reactive/maintenance commercial management within social housing or council sectors.
• Strong knowledge of SOR (Schedule of Rates) contracts.
• Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and drive commercial outcomes.
• Commitment to honesty, integrity and delivering social impact.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel for data manipulation and reporting.
