Manual Turner – 1 Year Fixed-Term Contract

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Manual Turner to join a specialist precision engineering business on a one‑year fixed‑term contract. You will produce small metal components using manual lathes and milling machines, working from engineering drawings to very close tolerances and inspecting finished parts with precision measuring tools.

Key responsibilities

• Operate manual lathes and milling machines to manufacture small metal components.
• Interpret engineering drawings and machine specifications accurately.
• Perform basic inspections using verniers, micrometers and bore micrometers.
• Complete production and quality documentation while maintaining high standards of finish, housekeeping and health & safety.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience operating manual lathes and milling machines in a machine shop or precision engineering environment.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings and ability to achieve close tolerances.
• Confident use of precision measuring equipment such as verniers, micrometers and bore micrometers.
• High attention to detail and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
