Manufacturing Engineer / CNC Programmer

About the role

We are looking for a self‑motivated Manufacturing Engineer and CNC Programmer to join our precision engineering team in Romford. The role focuses on creating CNC part programmes for multi‑axis machines and driving process improvements within an aerospace environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare CNC programmes for 3, 4 and 5‑axis machine tools, including tool definition, setup sheets and tooling plans.
• Validate programmes in production and manage supporting process elements such as routings, gauges, work‑holding and test equipment.
• Determine optimal materials and tools to meet product specifications while minimising cost.
• Identify and implement efficiency improvements across current operations.
• Develop cost‑transparent structures and support documentation for process control.
• Collaborate with the New Product Introduction (NPI) team and ensure compliance with the quality management system.
• Research emerging manufacturing technologies to align with business strategy.

Required profile

• Degree, HNC or HND in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in a medium/large precision engineering organisation, preferably aerospace.
• Proven ability to work to schedules and manage personal workload.
• Strong problem‑solving capability and stakeholder engagement awareness.

Required skills

• Proficient use of CAD/CAM software (GibbsCAM preferred) to generate 3‑D models and CNC programmes.
• SolidWorks experience.
• Expertise in CNC programming for 3‑, 4‑ and 5‑axis machining.
• Knowledge of machine‑tool and cutting‑tool specification.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Understanding of precision engineering processes, including milling and turning.
• Familiarity with aerospace quality standards (AS9100).
