Manufacturing Engineer – Defence Manufacturing

About the role

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join a world‑class defence organisation in Stevenage. You will support multi‑project manufacturing within a missile assembly facility, ensuring products are built efficiently, to budget and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Compile and update manufacturing instructions and route cards.
• Design, commission and prove tooling required for production.
• Support industrial validation using FMEA, FAI and other techniques.
• Resolve technical problems that arise during manufacturing.
• Manage configuration control by embedding design modifications into manufacturing documentation.
• Maintain the non‑conformance process using SAP.

Required profile

• Electrical or Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship (Advanced Level or L3) or equivalent Level 4 qualification (HNC, diploma, etc.).
• Experience in electronic sub‑assembly manufacture through to system‑level builds.
• Familiarity with small/miniature electro‑mechanical actuation systems.
• Ability to work effectively within a team and respond to customer requirements.

What we offer

• Rate of £35.00 per hour (£35 per day as published)
• 37‑hour work week with overtime paid at time‑and‑a‑quarter
• 12‑month initial contract, with the possibility of long‑term continuation
• Inside IR35 umbrella arrangement
