Manufacturing Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to provide full engineering and technical support across our manufacturing department in Birmingham. The role ensures production targets are met, drives process improvements and supports new product introductions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide engineering support to achieve and maintain production operating levels.
• Manage internal projects within agreed time‑frames and budgets.
• Create and maintain Process Control Plans, Visual Control Plans, Test Control Plans, FMEAs and SOPs.
• Design and develop lean manufacturing cells, assembly and test equipment, and related fixtures.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Services to keep factory layouts current.
• Lead cost‑reduction and efficiency initiatives, documenting savings and improvements.
• Support prototype builds, NPI activities and validate new processes using statistical tools.
• Specify and procure facilities and equipment, ensuring best value.

Required profile

• HNC/HND or degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
• Proven experience in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated project management experience delivering on time and within budget.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001; knowledge of ISO 14001 is a plus.

Required skills

• 3D CAD (Creo preferred).
• Working knowledge of hydraulics and/or pneumatics.
• Lean manufacturing tools: Kaizen, 5S, Kanban.
• Statistical analysis tools for process validation.
• Microsoft Office suite.
