Manufacturing Engineer – Semiconductor Wafer Fab

About the role

Octric Semiconductor is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to support the ramp‑up of its high‑volume compound semiconductor wafer fabrication facility in Newton Aycliffe. You will provide technical and strategic operational expertise to ensure efficient production and delivery performance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide manufacturing and industrial engineering expertise to the wafer fab operation.
• Maintain and update the fab capacity model, driving equipment purchase decisions and labour staffing levels.
• Implement proven industrial engineering techniques to improve cycle time, line velocity, machine uptime and delivery performance.
• Analyse operational WIP data and equipment availability to identify and execute factory line improvements.
• Partner with Factory Operations, Engineering and Automation teams to develop tools and strategies that optimise WIP flow.

Required profile

• Proven experience in semiconductor or high‑volume manufacturing environments.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to perform "what‑if" capacity analyses.
• Effective communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
• Ability to manage engineering change control and maintain data integrity.
