Manufacturing Engineering Manager – Advanced Mechatronics & Defence

About the role

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead the engineering function for advanced mechatronics and defence programmes in Romsey, Hampshire. You will ensure new products are designed for efficient, high‑quality manufacturing and drive continuous improvement across the site.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of Manufacturing Engineers.
• Own the manufacturing aspects of New Product Introduction (NPI) and embed DFMA principles.
• Design, implement and optimise manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality, cost and lead times.
• Champion Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives, delivering continuous‑improvement projects.
• Conduct root‑cause investigations using PFMEA, 8D and Lean Six Sigma tools.
• Manage manufacturing risks and support change‑control activities.
• Maintain manufacturing documentation such as BOMs, work instructions, test procedures and equipment maintenance records.
• Support day‑to‑day production, resolve manufacturing issues and collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Delivery and Customer Support.
• Oversee facility layout, equipment safety standards and training programmes.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading a Manufacturing Engineering team in an electro‑mechanical environment.
• Strong background in developing and improving manufacturing processes and procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to drive change and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Security clearance (SC) or ability to obtain it.
