Manufacturing Facilities Engineer – Defence & Advanced Manufacturing

About the role

This permanent position with a leading UK defence technology manufacturer involves overseeing and continuously improving the performance, safety, and efficiency of production sites in the North West. You will work closely with site leadership to develop a rolling facilities improvement plan that supports uninterrupted manufacturing in a highly regulated environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a 3‑year facilities strategy aligned with operational goals.
• Lead capital and improvement projects to enhance infrastructure performance.
• Manage supplier and contractor relationships to ensure operational continuity.
• Support implementation and ongoing improvement of CMMS systems and preventive maintenance programmes.

Required profile

• HND/HNC (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.
• Proven experience in facilities or maintenance engineering within manufacturing, defence, or other regulated environments.
• Knowledge of compliance standards such as PUWER, LOTO, and HSE regulations.
• Desirable: NEBOSH or equivalent health & safety qualification.
• Familiarity with CMMS platforms (e.g., Agility) and exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or project‑management methodologies (PRINCE2, PMP).
