Manufacturing Operator – Second Shift (6‑Month Fixed‑Term)

About the role

As a Manufacturing Operator on the second shift you will work hands‑on in Cell 2, producing high‑tolerance components for the Motion Control and Optical Tables product line. You will join a dedicated production team at Thorlabs’ Ely facility, following a structured training programme to operate a variety of precision industrial machinery.

Key responsibilities

• Meet scheduled manufacturing targets while maintaining strict quality standards.
• Operate and set up a range of precision industrial equipment under supervision.
• Record and communicate accurate technical measurements and production data via the control system and paperwork.
• Participate in cross‑training and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Identify and resolve production problems quickly and support quality‑performance improvements.

Required profile

• Practical, hands‑on experience in a manufacturing environment.
• High attention to detail and ability to stay focused.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Positive attitude, team‑oriented and aligned with core values.
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new processes.
