Materials Controller – Inventory & Warehouse Operations

About the role

We are seeking a proactive, detail‑focused Materials Controller to join our Gloucester team. The role blends hands‑on warehouse work with office‑based inventory administration, ensuring material accuracy and smooth flow across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate inventory records for on‑site and off‑site locations.
• Perform daily perpetual inventory counts and investigate discrepancies.
• Receive, process and record incoming materials, returns and non‑conforming items.
• Monitor stock movements, warehouse transfers and generate traceability labels using Sage.
• Investigate shortages, damaged stock, picking errors and respond to customer queries.
• Manage returnable assets (stillages, pallet boxes) via the Trackabout system.
• Produce daily, weekly and monthly inventory reports.
• Collaborate with Purchasing, Planning, Warehouse and Customer Service teams to optimise stock flow.
• Lead fortnightly zero‑pick and quarantine reviews and implement corrective actions.
• Provide training and cover for colleagues during absences and adhere to Health & Safety standards.

Required profile

• Proactive and detail‑oriented with a hands‑on approach.
• Comfortable spending time both in the warehouse (≈70%) and office (≈30%).
• Strong communication skills to work cross‑functionally.
