Materials Handler – Manufacturing Operations

About the role

This position is for an experienced Materials Handler who will support a busy manufacturing operation in Leeds. You will be responsible for moving raw materials and finished products efficiently while upholding safety, quality and housekeeping standards.

Key responsibilities

• Load and unload a variety of products using overhead crane equipment.
• Transport and process materials across multiple sites using a counter‑balance forklift and company vehicle.
• Operate general workshop machinery and hand tools associated with materials handling.
• Carry out quality inspections on completed work and materials.
• Ensure production areas receive materials promptly to maximise efficiency and minimise downtime.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards and promptly report equipment faults or shortages.
• Support colleagues and contribute to the smooth running of manufacturing operations.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Valid Counterbalance forklift licence (up to 7‑tonne capacity).
• Full UK driving licence.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a team and independently.
• Strong attention to detail and a flexible approach to work.

Required skills

• Overhead crane operation.
• Counterbalance forklift operation (up to 7 tonnes).
• Use of hand tools and general workshop machinery.
• Quality inspection techniques.
