Materials & Processes Engineer Placement (12.5 months)

About the role

Join Airbus' UK Materials & Processes team to apply your engineering knowledge to real aircraft challenges. You will support material qualification, testing and analysis across the product lifecycle, contributing to robust, safe aircraft structures.

Key responsibilities

• Work with suppliers worldwide to qualify materials and processes.
• Test and analyse materials and components using state‑of‑the‑art equipment in the Aerospace Research & Test Facility.
• Run qualification projects, define required testing and analyse results to ensure supplier capability.
• Support research activities on new materials or processes and engineer solutions when performance deviates from expectations.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Chemical) or Science (Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science) degree and will remain a student for the full 12.5‑month placement.
• Strong interest in aircraft/aerospace, basic knowledge of materials and engineering, and familiarity with metals and composites.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a technical team across multiple countries.
• Willingness to undergo BPSS security screening and possibly higher security clearance.
