Materials & Processes Engineering Placement – 12.5 months

About the role

This 12.5‑month placement gives you the chance to apply your academic knowledge to real‑world aerospace challenges. You will work on material qualification projects, collaborate with global suppliers and support research on new materials and processes.

Key responsibilities

• Work with suppliers worldwide to qualify materials and components.
• Test and analyse materials using state‑of‑the‑art equipment in the Aerospace Research & Test Facility.
• Run qualification projects, determine required testing and analyse results.
• Present data and project outcomes to colleagues and stakeholders.
• Support research activities on new materials or processes.

Required profile

• Currently studying Chemistry, Materials Science or Polymer Chemistry at undergraduate level.
• Comfortable in a laboratory environment with experience in wet chemistry or material testing.
• Strong interest in aircraft/aerospace and good communication skills.
• Enthusiastic about working in a technical team to solve complex problems.
• Foundational knowledge of materials and engineering principles, including metals and composites.
