Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant (Term‑Time)

About the role

We are partnering with a welcoming secondary school in Reading to offer a term‑time, full‑time position for a recent Mathematics graduate. As a Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant you will gain hands‑on classroom experience, supporting teachers and students while developing the skills needed for a future career in teaching, educational psychology or related fields.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to pupils during maths lessons.
• Assist the class teacher with lesson delivery, classroom management and preparation of learning resources.
• Explain mathematical concepts clearly and help students complete classwork.
• Support pupils with Special Educational Needs and other additional learning requirements.
• Monitor progress, record observations and give feedback to teaching staff.
• Encourage positive behaviour, participation and confidence in the classroom.

Required profile

• Degree in Mathematics or a closely related subject.
• Genuine enthusiasm for education and supporting young people.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain maths clearly.
• Patience, empathy and a proactive, positive attitude.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a school team.
• Willingness to commute to Reading (previous experience with children desirable but not essential).
