Maths Lecturer

About the role

Our college in County Durham is seeking a passionate Maths Lecturer to deliver high‑quality teaching for GCSE and Functional Skills (Level 2) programmes. You will help learners develop essential mathematical skills that support further study, employment, and everyday life.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons for GCSE and Functional Skills learners.
• Develop and review course content, assessments and learning materials.
• Monitor attendance, progress and achievement, providing timely feedback.
• Contribute to course reviews, moderation and continuous quality improvement.
• Provide guidance and support to learners, promoting safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.
• Participate in team meetings, CPD activities and college events.

Required profile

• Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed).
• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths, A‑Level 3 qualification and a relevant degree.
• Experience teaching Maths to learners aged 14‑19+ across a range of levels, including SEND.
• Strong understanding of the Ofsted framework for Further Education.
• Full UK driving licence or access to a vehicle.

Required skills

• Confidence using educational systems and analysing learner data.
• Knowledge of Eduqas GCSE and Pearson Functional Skills specifications.
