Maths Teaching Assistant – SEMH Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Maths Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEM‑H provision in East London. You will work closely with teachers to deliver targeted maths interventions, support GCSE and Functional Skills, and help learners build confidence in mathematics.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver small‑group maths interventions tailored to individual needs.
• Support pupils preparing for GCSE maths and Functional Skills qualifications.
• Assist teachers inside and outside the classroom with lesson preparation and delivery.
• Promote positive behaviour and a supportive learning environment.
• Adapt learning materials to suit diverse learning profiles.

Required profile

• Background in mathematics or strong maths knowledge.
• Experience working in SEM‑H, SEND or alternative provision settings.
• Confident behaviour management skills.
• Patient, adaptable and able to work as part of a team.
• DBS check on the Update Service preferred.
