Matron – Boarding House Pastoral Care

About the role

The Matron is a key member of the boarding house team at Wymondham College, responsible for the pastoral care and wellbeing of boarders aged 16‑18. Working evenings, overnight and mornings, the Matron supports the House leadership in creating a safe, supportive residential environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide pastoral care and supervision of boarding students during non‑timetabled periods.
• Assist the House leadership team with health, wellbeing and discipline matters.
• Supervise boarders in the evenings, overnight and mornings, remaining on‑site in communal areas during duty hours.
• Carry out housekeeping duties within the boarding house.
• Provide initial medical support and liaise with health services as needed.
• Promote and implement College and House policies and protocols.

• Excellent planning, organisational skills and willingness to accept responsibility.

Required skills

• Permanent, full‑time position (38 hours per week, term‑time only, Thursday‑Sunday).
• Salary pro‑rated £23,266‑£23,673 per annum (full‑time £25,583).
