M&E Surveyor – Interim Contract

About the role

Reporting to the Compliance Manager, you will deliver mechanical, electrical and energy‑related services across residential and non‑residential buildings for a social housing organisation in Sussex.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee planned maintenance and responsive repairs for electrical systems, fire alarms, emergency lighting, lifts, door entry systems and mechanical plant.
• Manage contractors and consultants to ensure safe, on‑time, on‑budget delivery to high quality standards.
• Design, specify and supervise M&E works in line with legislation, British Standards and CIBSE guidance.
• Lead energy‑efficiency and sustainability initiatives, including carbon‑reduction projects, solar PV and EPC/SAP assessments.
• Support compliance activities such as Legionella risk management, health & safety inspections, asbestos liaison and statutory reporting.
• Prepare technical specifications, drawings and contract documentation, monitor budgets and contractor payments, and conduct site inspections.

Required profile

• Strong experience in M&E maintenance and repair within housing or property.
• Proven ability to diagnose faults across electrical and mechanical systems.
• Experience managing contractors and supervising on‑site works.
• Good knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations, including electrical standards.
• Experience preparing specifications, reports and technical documentation.
• Budget monitoring and contract administration experience.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• HNC (or equivalent) in Mechanical & Electrical Engineering or related field.
