Mechanical Assembly Technician

About the role

This permanent, full‑time position is based at a purpose‑built facility in Hailsham, East Sussex. You will work in a cleanroom environment assembling ultra‑high‑vacuum (UHV) manipulation and sample‑handling equipment for a high‑technology manufacturer.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble precision mechanical and electrical components into complex UHV systems following engineering drawings and specifications.
• Perform specialist wiring, electrical testing and pre‑test data recording for each sub‑assembly.
• Maintain UHV‑clean process standards and document all test results, quality checks and serial‑number histories.
• Support the transition of new hardware from New Product Introduction (NPI) into routine production.
• Create and update manufacturing instructions, process guides and related production documentation.
• Attend occasional client meetings or site visits, with travel approved in advance.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a high‑technology, precision engineering or cleanroom manufacturing environment.
• Proven ability to work from engineering drawings and perform precision hand‑fitting.
• Understanding of specialist wiring and product test procedures for low‑volume, customised products.
• Strong attention to detail, organisational and record‑keeping skills.
• Basic IT competence, including Microsoft Office.
