Mechanical Day Shift Engineer

About the role

A prestigious contract has opened for a Mechanical Shift Engineer in Blackfriars, working a day-shift pattern of 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, 3 days off. The engineer keeps environmental conditions and critical building systems at the highest standard, carrying out preventive maintenance and reactive works on mechanical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out PPM tasks and reactive and breakdown works on all mechanical systems in the site
• Complete routine PPM on mechanical plant according to site task schedules and asset lists
• Manage reactive calls, including concessionary stores and fabric-related items, and address faults swiftly
• Maintain suitable spares, provide parts lists and estimated timescales, and close out tickets accurately in the computer-based maintenance system (e.g. Maximo)
• Prepare and use method statements and risk assessments, and operate a permit-to-work system in line with quality, health and safety procedures
• Keep plant rooms clean and locked, supervise subcontractor work, and promote a safe working environment
• Monitor compliance with contractual KPIs and SLAs, and report reactive work to the Contract Administrator

Required profile

• Formal training in a mechanical engineering discipline such as HVAC or plumbing to City and Guilds Level 3 or NVQ Level 2
• Knowledge of HVAC, hot and cold-water systems and generators, including fault finding with graphical information and alarm data
• Basic electrical knowledge is desirable
