Mechanical Design Engineer – 12 month contract (£50ph)

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading Defence and Aerospace client on a 12‑month contract in Stevenage. You will work on prime and variant products, delivering detailed designs and supporting testing activities.

Key responsibilities

• Produce mechanical designs and proving activities for components and assemblies using CREO.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to resolve problems and defects.
• Support functional and environmental testing, including trial coordination.
• Liaise with suppliers and purchasing to address technical queries.
• Plan, report and track daily activities against project milestones.
• Interpret and help generate product requirements.

Required profile

• Experience with CREO 3D design tool.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and tolerance studies.
• Ability to conduct environmental testing and mass‑property calculations.
• Familiarity with material selection, FMEA and design for manufacture/assembly.
• Understanding of defence standards, review processes and product lifecycles.
