Mechanical Design Engineer – Automation

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with a focus on automation to join a fast‑growing specialist in vision systems and bespoke machinery. You will work in a small, collaborative team delivering unique automation solutions for major manufacturers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop bespoke automated machinery for manufacturing clients.
• Create 2‑D drawing sets and detailed schematics using AutoCAD.
• Select and program Siemens and Allen Bradley PLCs as part of system architecture.
• Prepare quotation packages and support operatives during build and commissioning.
• Maintain up‑to‑date schematics throughout project life‑cycles.

Required profile

• Mechanical design background with proven experience in automation projects.
• Ability to work closely with electrical design engineers and control teams.
• Willingness to commute to the Didcot office and adapt to hybrid working after probation.
