Mechanical Design Engineer – Building Services (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with a building services background to work on multi‑million‑pound projects for the MoD. The role offers full autonomy, flexible hours and the possibility to work remotely while delivering a wide range of mechanical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design HVAC, water and fire‑suppression systems for projects ranging from £5k to £3.5m.
• Prepare detailed mechanical specifications and design documentation.
• Attend site meetings and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Monitor project budgets, timescales and ensure compliance with client requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle.

Required profile

• Qualified Mechanical Engineer with experience in building services.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
• Strong understanding of UK building regulations and MoD standards.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
