Mechanical Design Engineer – Industrial Automation

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a fast‑growing smart manufacturing company in Oxford. The role involves designing both small retrofit camera assemblies and large‑scale industrial automation machinery for sectors such as aerospace, medical devices, automotive and electronics.

Key responsibilities

• Create detailed 3D mechanical models, drawings and schematics in SolidWorks under the Design Lead.
• Develop full pneumatic system concepts, component specifications and schematics.
• Produce 3D renders of concepts and machines for sales and marketing using visualization tools.
• Specify automation components and ensure designs meet international engineering standards.
• Collaborate with Applications Engineering to deliver projects on time, providing hands‑on support during system builds.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years experience designing industrial automation or special‑purpose machinery.
• At least 3 years of professional use of 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
• Degree‑level education (2:1 or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong logical problem‑solving ability, high attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
• Full, clean UK driving licence and right to work in the UK without sponsorship.
