Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

Our client, a specialist engineering company, is expanding and needs a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the team. You will be responsible for designing and developing new products while providing technical support across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop new mechanical products.
• Provide technical support to internal teams and external customers.
• Deliver engineering and design solutions tailored to project needs.
• Create 3D models and detailed drawings.
• Specify materials, generate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and perform hand calculations.
• Liaise with customers and project teams to ensure design requirements are met.

Required profile

• Background in mechanical design, preferably with a degree.
• Experience working in cross‑functional teams.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD design, ideally using Autodesk Inventor.
• Ability to carry out hand calculations and produce accurate documentation.

Required skills

• Inventor (or comparable 3D CAD software)
• 3D CAD modelling and detailed drawing creation
• Hand calculations for mechanical design
• Material specification and BOM creation
