Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

This contract position involves the full product development lifecycle for electric propulsion and eVTOL concepts. You will work closely with aircraft‑concept teams to translate innovative ideas into manufacturable components while ensuring compliance and quality.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day CAD design using SolidWorks, CAE, CAD and CAM tools to create concepts, prototypes and metallic/composite parts.
• Support payload and propulsion system integration for all‑electric and eVTOL applications.
• Manage the design, integration, verification and testing phases from concept through final assembly.
• Prepare engineering documentation, specifications, drawings, DFMEAs and risk assessments to recognised standards.
• Assist program management with estimating, planning, tracking progress and managing dependencies.
• Engage directly with customers to convert complex requirements into elegant engineering solutions.

Required profile

• Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience delivering product development from concept to prototype manufacturing and testing.
• Strong understanding of material selection (metallic and composite) and Design for Manufacture & Assembly principles.
• Ability to perform first‑pass engineering analysis, including basic FEA and CFD.
