Mechanical Design Engineer – Manufacturing (Basildon)

About the role

Based in South Essex, you will join a well‑known manufacturing company that designs, builds and installs automated machinery for multiple industries. The role offers exposure to high‑value projects and the full mechanical design lifecycle over the next 3‑6 years of growth.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with internal departments to design parts, assemblies and equipment layouts.
• Produce detailed manufacturing drawings, bills of materials, sub‑assembly schematics and schedules.
• Update and maintain mechanical documentation for equipment upgrades or modifications.
• Enforce drawing control, document management and revision control using Autodesk Vault.
• Work closely with shop‑floor, build, projects and electrical teams throughout the project life‑cycle.

Required profile

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Proven mechanical design experience in an industrial environment.
• Strong understanding of BS 8888 drafting standards and machining, sheet‑metal and fabrication processes.

Required skills

• Autodesk AutoCAD (2D)
• Autodesk Inventor (3D)
• Autodesk Vault
• SolidWorks (or similar CAD systems)
