Mechanical Design Engineer – Materials Handling & Warehouse Automation

About the role
We are expanding our UK operations and are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to create innovative materials handling and warehouse automation solutions. You will work closely with clients and suppliers to design systems that meet automation requirements in modern warehouses.
Key responsibilities
- Design clever solutions for materials handling and warehouse automation using AutoCAD.
- Analyse, document and communicate customer requirements.
- Model data flows to support solution designs.
- Prepare design proposal documents for new clients.
- Liaise with suppliers to select appropriate equipment for bids.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years’ experience in material handling design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Excel.
- Understanding of material handling industry terms, processes and tolerances.
- Awareness of automated warehouse technology.
- Ability to present designs to end customers.
- Commitment to staying updated on product developments.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
