Mechanical Design Engineer – Renewable Energy

About the role

Our client, a designer and manufacturer of renewable energy products, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Berkshire team on a permanent basis. The role involves creating detailed 3D designs, supporting hands‑on activities and collaborating with a small multi‑disciplinary team to deliver high‑quality solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop concept designs and detailed 3D models using Inventor and produce technical drawings.
• Maintain and update parts in the MRP system, generate BOMs and ensure accurate documentation.
• Participate in hands‑on tasks such as maintenance, installation, inspection and final assembly.
• Liaise with manufacturing providers and supply‑chain partners.
• Prepare project reports, design documentation and verify drawings for sign‑off.

Required profile

• Degree, HNC, HND, BTEC or NVQ in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in mechanical design within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with system integration of standard components and familiarity with valves, pumps or pressure regulators is advantageous.
• Strong theoretical knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and tolerance management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, organisational and time‑management abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in 3D CAD software – Inventor, SolidWorks or Creo.
• Competence with MS Office applications.
• Experience using an MRP system to create BOMs and manage parts data.
