Mechanical Design Engineer – SolidWorks & Solid Edge

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well‑established manufacturing company in Exeter. Reporting to the Technical Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for designing new products, maintaining the existing range, and delivering detailed engineering drawings ready for production.

Key responsibilities

• Take concepts through to detailed engineering drawings for manufacture.
• Determine appropriate manufacturing methods and produce production‑ready designs.
• Carry out DFMEA at the start of each project and perform tolerance analysis during design.
• Collaborate with Development, Production Engineering and Purchasing to ensure design‑for‑manufacture is implemented before hand‑over.
• Maintain and modify existing product designs as required.

Required profile

• Degree‑educated or proven engineering background with a strong focus on mechanical engineering.
• Experience in sheet‑metal manufacturing and a solid understanding of sheet‑metal processes.
