Mechanical Design Engineer – Water & Wastewater Projects

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading water and wastewater solutions provider in Rossendale. You will be responsible for creating detailed pipework drawings, managing design projects and liaising with clients to deliver high‑quality engineering solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Produce aeration pipework general arrangement and manufacturing drawings.
• Project‑manage design phases and procure items required for system implementation.
• Report to the Lead Design Engineer and maintain client communication.
• Use CAD software (Autodesk, SolidWorks, AutoCAD Inventor) to create 2D and 3D designs.
• Collaborate with project, engineering and operations teams to minimise risk during design.
• Generate detailed technical drawings, plans and general arrangements.
• Develop and maintain 3D models and as‑built documentation.
• Conduct occasional site visits and surveys to gather information for design progression.

Required profile

• Experience in the water industry with a mechanical or structural background.
• Proficient in SolidWorks or AutoCAD Inventor.
• Well‑organised with strong knowledge of engineering principles.
• Ability to read and create technical drawings.
• Understanding of M&E requirements in the water sector is a plus.
