Mechanical Domestic Heating Manager

About the role

Reporting to the Compliance Manager, you will lead the operational delivery of domestic mechanical heating services across council housing assets. You will ensure contractors meet contractual and regulatory standards for gas, oil, ASHP and solid‑fuel systems, while supporting the wider compliance team on health and safety matters.

Key responsibilities

• Lead operational delivery of domestic mechanical heating services across council housing assets.
• Ensure contractors meet contractual and regulatory requirements for gas, oil, ASHP and solid‑fuel systems.
• Oversee detector testing, sealed‑system servicing and compliance with statutory obligations.
• Conduct regular site visits across a large rural area and coordinate with the Compliance Team on gas, electrical, asbestos, fire, lifts and water‑hygiene matters.

Required profile

• Experience in the housing sector managing domestic heating systems.
• HNC in Mechanical Engineering, Building Construction or a related discipline.
• Member of Gas Safe with current registration.
• Willingness to obtain IOSH Managing Safely and Level 4 VRQ in housing compliance.
• Valid driving licence and access to personal transport.

Required skills

• Maintenance of gas, oil, air‑source heat‑pump and solid‑fuel heating installations.
• Conducting detector testing and sealed‑system servicing.
• Compliance monitoring for statutory heating regulations.
