Mechanical Engineer - Factory Automation

About the role
We are looking for a driven Mechanical Engineer to join our automation team and help scale our factory‑scale robotics platform. You will be involved from concept through to build and deployment of robotic systems that support high‑mix, low‑volume electronics assembly.
Key responsibilities
- Design gantries and end effectors using Fusion 360.
- Install, commission and debug robotic systems for PCB assembly.
- Manage supplier relationships and oversee machine builds.
- Analyse end‑effector performance from video recordings and refine geometry for reliability.
Required profile
- Hands‑on experience designing and commissioning mechanical sub‑systems for automation.
- Proven ability to take concepts through to built, tested and deployed hardware.
- Experience with robotics or automation projects, whether as a hobbyist, student or professional.
Required skills
- 3D CAD modelling (Fusion 360).
- PLC programming and debugging, preferably Beckhoff TwinCAT.
- Operation of CNC machinery and machining for production parts.
- Design of mechanical systems for chemical handling and optics.
- Knowledge of sheet‑metal fabrication and injection moulding.
What we offer
- Salary ranging from £45,000 to £100,000 per year, dependent on experience.
