Mechanical Engineer – Hydraulics

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer with strong hydraulics expertise to join a leading manufacturer in Greater Manchester. The role involves maintaining and improving mechanical and hydraulic systems to ensure safe, efficient operation of critical production equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support and maintenance for mechanical and hydraulic systems across the site.
• Diagnose and rectify faults in hydraulic power units, cylinders, pumps, valves, accumulators and material handling equipment.
• Monitor system performance, conduct root‑cause analysis and implement reliability improvements.
• Support preventative and predictive maintenance programmes and drive continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Lead engineering projects from concept through installation, specifying equipment and coordinating contractors.
• Review and update engineering drawings, schematics and technical documentation.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong expertise in hydraulic systems and equipment.
• Hands‑on diagnostic and fault‑finding abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
