Mechanical Engineer

About the role

This full‑time Mechanical Engineer position supports a prestigious client site in Milton Keynes within a leading facilities‑management organisation. You will be responsible for keeping critical building services operational through planned preventative maintenance, reactive work and technical support.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical building services systems.
• Maintain and repair M&E plant, equipment and associated building fabric.
• Record activities in CAFM systems and monitor performance.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality procedures.
• Supervise specialist contractors, manage inductions, permits and work completion.
• Review and support Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
• Contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives and operational efficiencies.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders and customers to deliver exceptional service.
• Provide out‑of‑hours support for operational issues when required.

Required profile

• City & Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum two years’ experience in facilities management, building services or maintenance engineering.
• Proactive, customer‑focused attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Knowledge of HVAC and air‑conditioning systems.
• Familiarity with water‑treatment systems, generators and fire‑alarm systems.
• Understanding of lifts, UPS systems and communications rooms.
• Ability to operate Building Management Systems (BMS).
• Experience using Computer‑Aided Facility Management (CAFM) software.
