Mechanical Engineering Lecturer

About the role

The Supply Register is recruiting a Mechanical Engineering Lecturer on behalf of Carlisle College. This temporary, full‑time role involves delivering practical engineering lessons to post‑16 learners, helping them gain the knowledge and skills needed for further study or industry careers.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver Engineering lessons (BTEC, City & Guilds, NVQ) across mechanical, pneumatics, CAD, thermos fluids and related topics.
• Run practical workshop sessions and demonstrations.
• Prepare learners for assessments, coursework and exams.
• Monitor progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Promote health and safety within workshop environments.
• Create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Required profile

• Industry experience in Mechanical Engineering.
• Relevant engineering qualification (Level 3 or above).
• Teaching experience or willingness to move into education.
• Strong practical and communication skills.
• Ability to engage and support post‑16 learners.
• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain).
• Desirable: teaching qualification (PGCE, CertEd, DET), assessor qualification (TAQA, A1), experience delivering BTEC/City & Guilds/NVQ, previous FE experience.
